Tips for the correct sign representation

In a german text

I have tried to encode all German special characters with the correctly named signs after the HTML-sign reference. If mistakes have happened to me, besides, the text could look possibly like in the following graphics :

The Thai signs are always given in their numerical coding.

To get the German special characters correctly indicated, you can change in the browser the actually used sign coding :

If you use the Browser ...

Firefox 1.01 - 3.58 oder Mozilla 1.7.8	In the menu "Ansicht" at the entry "Zeichenkodierung" choose the entry "Westlich (ISO-8859-1)"
Opera 7.54 - 9.64	In the menu "Ansicht" at the entry "Zeichenkodierung" then at the entry "Westeuropäisch" choose the entry "(ISO-8859-1)"
Safari 3.12	In the menu "Ansicht" at the entry "Textcodierung" choose the entry "Westeuropäisch"
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 - 8.0	In the menu "Ansicht" at the entry "Codierung" choose the entry "Westeuropäisch (ISO)"

With the Thai fonts

If the Thai fonts are not correctly shown, for example with Windows 98, the Microsoft Internet Explorer must be installed first at least in the version 6:

For the installation you choose the option "Minimal installieren oder Browser anpassen":

choose option "Thai"

In the following window you should scroll down to the end and choose the option "Unterstützung für Thai Text", see picture :

Now the download of the required files from the Internet and the installation of the program will be executed.
After the obligatory new start of the computer the Microsoft Internet Explorer can also indicate the Thai characters.
If the actual HTML file from the Internet is not correctly shown, like in the picture on the right :

adjust sign code "Thai"

Then you should change to the suitable coding, as shown above :
